HOLI

SPLASH OF COLOURS

HOLI is the festival of colours which is celebrated not only in India but also in other countries like Japan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan etc. Colours play a special role in our lives. It may be as apparels, vehicles, jewels, as humans we know that colours add colour to our life. But the question is why Holi is played with splashing colours? Can you imagine HOLI with splashing normal water, throwing sand, paper or stones at each other? Here you are…. This gives us the sense of essence of colours in our lives.

When we read Indian History we come to know that during Mughal period also people celebrated HOLI as a symbol of Secularism and Spirituality. In ancient days it was played with natural colours.

This denotes that hues of Holi is symbolic to nature and ethics.

GREEN —Prosperity, welcome of Spring, New Beginning and Rejuvenation which binds us with mother earth.

BLUE — Divine, Tranquility and Faith. The blue skin of Lord Krishna gives his divine presence.

RED —Love, Passion, Fertility, New Beginning and vitality of life. The blend of Red and Blue is the eternal love of Lord Krishna and Radha.

YELLOW — Sacred turmeric colour as a sign of fortune. It represents the colour of Lord Vishnu.

ORANGE- New Beginning. It represents Lord Sun.

Finally —

HOLIKA DAHAN- The crackling flames of Holika Dahan is symbolic to the burning away of negativity and impurities around us and within. It’s symbolic to triumph of good over evil.

May the colour of joy and prosperity overflow over all the readers.
